Founded in 2001, Calgary-based energy software firm GuildOne is the national leader in oil & gas royalty data management and has been developing and commercializing industrial smart contract and digital asset solutions since 2016.
In 2022, GuildOne and a network of strategic partners launched ESG1 to pivot its blockchain technologies to solving critical emissions data challenges.
GuildOne/ESG1 projects involving supply chain data include:
Developing smart contract systems for managing joint venture and authorizations for expenditure requirements in the USA for ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil and Chevron, which was named in 2023’s global Forbes Top 50 blockchain projects
Partnering with an AB natural gas midstream company and its energy data analytics provider to tokenize traceable carbon credits for underground carbon sequestration in 2021/2022
Using blockchain to tokenize supply chain provenance and attestation data from reforestation on an AB First Nations reserve, which won the 2022 Blockchain for Good Award from the Blockchain Research Institute
Current projects that include registering and tokenizing methane abatements as carbon credits (AB/UAE/USA), and developing a blockchain-based system for managing the diverse data sets and attestations required for well reclamation certificates (AB)
ESG1 is also collaborating with the Seychelles government and local partners on an blockchain initiative to provide traceability into marine conservation data
In addition to company projects that leverage supply chain data, GuildOne and ESG1 team members have ecosystem roles at the Canadian Blockchain Consortium, advisory to the Alberta government on blockchain applications, advisory to Canada’s National Cybersecurity Consortium, and participation in global emissions standards organizations and University of Calgary emissions data management research. A team member was also the developer of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s upcoming Blockchain for Supply Chain Management course.
