Building a Resilient Future

Tackling Climate Change Head-On

Join us in our mission to strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters worldwide.

The Urgent Need for Action

Understanding the Climate Crisis

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, demanding immediate and sustained action. Despite significant progress, such as the adoption of the Paris Agreement, global efforts must be intensified to limit the temperature rise to well below 2°C, ideally to 1.5°C. This requires a transformation of our energy, industry, transport, food, agriculture, and forestry systems. The stakes are high, and the window for action is closing rapidly. We must act now to secure a sustainable future for all.

Addressing climate change is not just an environmental imperative but also an economic and social necessity. Investments in renewable energy are increasing, but fossil-fuel-related activities still dominate. To meet climate targets, we need comprehensive strategies and policies that promote sustainable development and resilience. This includes enhancing education, raising awareness, and building capacity at all levels, particularly in vulnerable communities. The time for incremental change has passed; we need bold, transformative actions to safeguard our planet.

Climate Finance: The Numbers

Global climate finance flows reached an annual average of $803 billion in 2019–2020, reflecting a 12% increase from previous years. However, this is still insufficient to meet the required levels to limit global warming.

Empowering Nations

Climate Adaptation and Resilience

Developing countries are making significant strides in enhancing climate adaptation and resilience. With the formulation and implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), these nations are better prepared to tackle climate-related hazards. In 2019, 120 out of 153 developing countries had initiated activities to create and execute NAPs, marking an increase of 29 countries from the previous year. These plans are crucial for integrating climate change measures into national policies and ensuring sustainable development.
